Energy Collection | Natural Light Systems

Natural Light SystemsNatural light systems have been around for thousands of years, but they are becoming more popular than ever due to the increasing amount of time we spend in our homes, offices and other buildings.  We have lights on nearly all of the time now and the energy consumption has dramatically increased – 250% in the last 15 years.

Natural Light systems offer an alternative to using traditional electric lights during the day, piping natural daylight from the rooftop down into the building into areas where there is limited or no natural light.

How it works
The system gathers the maximum amount of light from the rooftop and transfers it with minimal light loss to the room below. A dome is installed on the roof which connects to a super reflective tube running down from the dome into your room within the loft space.  The daylight is intensified and reflected into the rooms where it is then evenly distributed through a translucent ceiling fixture.

Multiple Functionality
The system can also allow for an electric light fitting to be incorporated into the ceiling fixture to allow for night time lighting or for a daylight dimmer facility, meaning that multiple functions can be served from just the one ceiling unit. For bathrooms there is also an extractor fan that can be added to the system to overcome ventilation needs.

Installation
The units can be installed into just about any room, including where a traditional skylight or window could not be placed – for example where there is no direct access to the roof or external walls.  Installing a natural light system can often be more cost effective than putting in a new window or skylight.

Better for The environment and better for you
The system itself means lower electricity bills and a reduced carbon footprint – in addition there are numerous studies suggesting that increased daily exposure to natural light enhances mental and physical well being, boosts concentration and energy levels.

System Features

  • No structural alterations are required to the building as the product fits easily between joints and rafters
  • No maintenance, top dome is self cleaning due to its shape and there are no issues with leaks or condensation
  • Minimal fixing requirements
  • Joints are sealed using aluminium tape
  • Quick installation – usually only two or three hours.
