About Solar Cylinders
The type and size of a cylinder in a solar system is very important. Cylinders are sized in conjunction with size of the solar system (ie number of panels) to ensure sufficient capacity per m2 of collector area. Typically for a single panel collector system you would require a cylinder of approximately 200 litres. This would be sufficient for 4 people and satisfy up to 70% of your hot water demand per annum. Our technical team can advise you on the best solar cylinder solution for your project, we can also help you to size the correct unit for the number of panels you require and the size of the property you own.
Solar Vented Copper Cylinders![]() Solarmax Copper Cylinder |
These units are specifically designed to get the most from your solar panel while still complying with all regulations. These units come with two coils and extra insulation to enable integration of the existing hot water system. They are made from grade 3 material and have a working head of 10 metres. |

Solar Unvented Stainless Steel Cylinders![]() Indirect Stainless Steel Cylinders |
These units allow you to connect the cylinder directly to the mains via the safety valves provided. This allows you to have power showers without the need for noisy shower pumps and means no cold water cistern tanks are required in the loft. The cylinders are manufactured from Stainless Steel and carry a 25 year guarantee on the vessel and 2 years on the components. |

Pre-Plumbed Cylinders![]() Pre-Plumbed cylinders |
Tribune HE indirect cylinders are available in plug in pre-plumbed format designed to significantly reduce the installation time. The units are factory assembled and are both pre-plumbed and pre-wired with 230V central heating controls, a pump, 2x two port motorised valves, automatic bypass & balancing valve. All units also come with programmer, room stat and both central heating and hot water expansion vessel pack. These cylinders will not only speed up the installation process, but will also increase the quality & integrity of your central heating system. |

Solar Heat Exchanger![]() Solar Heat Exchanger |
In certain circumstances your existing copper cylinder can be converted with a solar heat exchanger. It is fitted into the top entry connection point for the Immersion Heater. Make sure the existing cylinder is fit for purpose. There must be no obvious signs of leaks or corrosion, and the tank must be well insulated. For tanks without the BS1566:1-2002 sticker an additional insulating jacket made to BS5615:1985 must be fitted. |
