Water | Plumbing Systems

UFW Ltd. offer the best in plastic plumbing solutions for both domestic and commercial applications.
Our products cater for both manifold and branch plumbing applications from 12mm to 110mm pipe sizes in Multi Layer Composite pipes (MLCP).
The MLCP consists of an overlapped, longitudinally welded aluminium pipe with an inner and outer layer of high temperature resistant polyethylene. All layers are permanently bonded by intermediate adhesive layers whilst a special welding technique ensures high reliability.
Multi-Layer Composite Pipe features
- Pipe sizes range from 12mm to 110mm
- The aluminium core is 100% oxygen diffusion tight, therefore preventing the ingress of any oxygen
- Compensates and reduces snap-back forces and heat expansion with changes of temperature
- System is designed for easy, safe and fast pipe installation
- Smooth, low friction bore (roughness k = 0.0004)
- Maximum temperature: 95°C

Connection Systems

Multi Layer Composite pipe is suitable for press, push-fit and compression fitting systems. Press fittings are available in both chrome and brass and for all sizes from 12mm to 110mm, with Composite fittings available from 16mm to 50mm. Screw fittings are available for diameters from 12mm to 25mm and fit all elbows, tees, transitions and manifolds.
The below systems demonstrate the difference between manifold plumbing, where a centrally located manifold is used for the flow and return pipes with no other connections on the loops versus a branch plumbing system with no manifold where all connections are made in floor/ceiling.

Advantages of MLCP
- High Form Stability – Due to the metal/plastic structure of the pipe, it remains in position after bending for ease of installation.
- 100% diffusion tight – The aluminium core is continuously overlapped welded and prevents oxygen/gases leaking into the pipe. Subsequently, the corrosion of metallic installation components is avoided.
- High bending flexibility – It can easily be bent by hand without tools, thus making the use of numerous fittings unnecessary.
- Low heat expansion – The permanent bonding of plastic layers to aluminium considerably reduces heat expansion.
- Corrosion resistance – The smooth plastic inner and outer layers keeps water at bay, preventing deposit accumulation and corrosion.
- Easy jointing – No welding, thread cutting, gluing or soldering is required. Instead the pipe is cut to length, bevelled and the fitting inserted using a press tool. The whole joint takes only seconds to complete and is completely non-demountable.
- Full WRAS Scheme Approval – Can be used in drinking water applications in the UK, making it ideal for pressurised hot and cold water systems.
Pricing

Due to the volatile prices of traditional systems a large number of mechanical engineers and plumbers use the MLCP product due to the stable pricing structure. A number of local authorities specify MLCP systems due to issues on site, regarding theft. All off cuts from your MLCP underfloor heating system supplied by UFW Ltd. can be utilised in your plumbing system thus reducing pipe wastage.
Technical Support
Our technical team is here to help you design your plumbing systems and can advise you and create a full bill of materials for your project. We are able to give on site training and one of our engineers will visit your site and demonstrate best practise for cutting, bending and jointing the system.
